If you're a Kickstarter backer, you can ignore this update.
If you missed the Kickstarter campaign for Slay the Spire: the Board Game, then we have some great news for you!
How to Late Pledge:
- Select a Core Pledge: Slayer's Pledge, Collector's Pledge, or Neow's All-In.
- Choose a language.
- Choose Add-Ons (check image below).
- Enter your email and shipping address.
- Enter payment info and confirm your order.
Estimated shipping rates can be found HERE. VAT charges only apply for customers with addresses in the EU & UK, and will be charged at your country’s general rate.
You will not be charged for your Late Pledge now. We'll give you at least 30 days notice before we charge your card (see schedule below). Once you’ve placed your order, you can cancel it, update your shipping address, or update your payment information. You can contact us to modify your order at [email protected].
Estimated Schedule:
- Summer 2023 - Shipping prices added onto Late Pledges.
- 30 Days Later (minimum) - Cards charged for Late Pledges.
- Autumn 2023 - Shipping addresses locked.
- December 2023 - Fulfillment begins for Late Pledges.
We will update the timeline as these dates get closer. We'll announce when shipping prices have been added to the system. You'll have at least 30 days to review shipping prices before we automatically charge your card.
Once you place your order, there is no further action required from you if you don’t feel the need to check shipping & VAT.
How many sleeves do I need?
The game already includes all Art Sleeves required to play (plus some extras). You don't NEED any additional sleeves!
100 Art Sleeves - You don't need these unless you want to sleeve the Beta Art (4 packs) or Foil Pack (1 pack). All pledges come with the Foil Pack. Beta Art & Foils were intended to be swapped out to customize the look of your game, but some backers are choosing to sleeve them to increase the size of the card reward pools. You can also use sleeves in other games.
Sleeves for Everything Else - This is 300+ clear sleeves (.1mm thick) for non-player cards like monsters, events, relics, bosses, etc. These are not required for play, but they will help protect your cards. Includes extras for damaged sleeves.

All invitations to the Pledge Manager have been sent! If you haven't responded yet, you'll periodically get reminder emails from Backerkit.
What if I didn’t get an invitation?
If you didn't receive an invitation email, please reach out to us through the Kickstarter message system, or email us at [email protected] (include your backer number in emails). Some common issues are:
Apple ID - You won't get Backerkit emails if you use Apple ID to sign in to Kickstarter. Apple ID emails look like [email protected]. If you have this issue, contact us with an alternate email we can use.
Check your Spam Folder - The email subject is “Response Needed — Get your reward for Slay the Spire: The Board Game”.
Pledge Manager FAQs
1) How many sleeves do I need?

Select "Switch Pledge Level". Then select "Multiple Pledges".

Click the value under “Your Pledge Level”
Then, you will see a pop up with “Switch Pledge Levels” in the top right corner.

The Pledge Manager Has Launched!
Invitations to the Pledge Manager start going out today! We will be sending these invitations out in batches hours apart, so some of you won’t get an invitation until later in the day or possibly Friday in your time zone. Invitations go to your Kickstarter email address and come from Backerkit.
You must use the Pledge Manager to get your order! In the Pledge Manager, you can select a language, choose add-ons, and enter your shipping address.
Late Pledges - This update is for Backers only. If you’re not a backer and waiting to Late Pledge, it's coming very soon! We’ll announce when late pledges are available via: email (from our newsletter), a future Kickstarter update, Facebook, and Twitter.
Timeline
Here is a rough timeline for the Pledge Manager. These dates will get more precise in future updates as things progress.
- April 4th, 2023 - Survey Completion
- Summer 2023 - Shipping & VAT added into PM
- 30 Days Later (minimum) - Lock Orders & Charge Credit Cards
- Autumn 2023 - Lock Shipping Addresses
Deadline - Please complete your survey by April 4th so we can guarantee your order. We will begin manufacturing based on how many orders we have at this time. Orders placed after that will come from extra stock, which may run out.
Step by Step Instructions:
- Follow the link in your email from Backerkit to the survey.
- Confirm your Pledge and Shipping region. Click “Switch Your Pledge” if you want to adjust your pledge.
- Answer Survey questions.
- Choose Add-Ons.
- Enter Address info.
- Enter card and confirm your order. You will NOT be charged until later (see below).
Charging Payments Later - Your card will NOT be charged upon completion of your survey. We’ll be charging you later, closer to fulfillment. Shipping and VAT charges will be added into the system later this year. We'll notify you when shipping costs are added to the Pledge Manager and give you at least 30 days notice before charging your card for any remaining balance.
Why are we charging later? It’s our policy to never make a profit off of shipping costs, so we don't want to overcharge you. We also want to be prepared in case there is another global shipping crisis like what happened during the pandemic. Accurate shipping prices are good for everyone, and delaying shipping charges greatly reduces the project’s risk.
What if I don't want to enter payment info now? You can stop on the last step and not enter your payment information. We'll still see your order in the system if you got that far. Be sure to enter your payment info when we send out the 30 day notice that cards will be charged.
Cultists - If you backed for $1 or without selecting a reward, you MUST click “switch pledge levels” and select a new pledge to receive a reward.
Multiple Pledges - Click “switch pledge levels” and choose this option to order 2 pledges. The menu only allows one language for both pledges, but contact us if you want two different languages and we can manually change it for you. Each pledge comes with all daily reveals and Kickstarter exclusives. We can’t guarantee that there will be a combined shipping discount, but if we can arrange that, we will.
Downgrades - If you downgrade your pledge, you will have leftover credit which you can use to purchase add-ons and pay for shipping/VAT when that is charged later. After your card has been charged, we can refund 90% of any remaining balance upon request (this is the amount left after Kickstarer, Credit Card, and Backerkit fees).
Support Questions - Please click "Need Help?" on Backerkit for Pledge Manager support. They know their Pledge Manager better than we do. If they can’t help you, they’ll refer you to us. You're welcome to contact us through Kickstarter messages or [email protected] if you still need help.

Pledge Manager Schedule
The Pledge Manager Launch is scheduled for January 26th! Expect an update from us then along with an email invitation to Backerkit. All of your questions will (hopefully) be answered in that update.
Localization Lock
February 1st is the day we send all files to be translated! After that, it becomes difficult to make major changes to the game. So if you ever wanted to playtest the game or check out the rulebook, now is the time! The window for feedback is closing.
Japanese Campaign

Pledge Manager Delayed, Rulebook & TTS Update

Greetings Slayers,
Happy Holidays to you from all of us at Contention Games and Mega Crit! Two pieces of news: First the Pledge Manager launch is delayed (details below). Secondly, as a holiday treat, we added some new cards! These were added in a huge Tabletop Simulator update today that includes a rulebook update, new content, and tons of tweaks. Check it out and let us know what you think!
Pledge Manager / Late Pledges Delayed
We've been setting up the Pledge Manager with Backerkit and have a couple of items that are causing delays. Firstly, Backerkit has some exciting new features we want to use, but we are still working out some tricky details. We also have some new language partners in the works, and we need more time to work out production and fulfillment details with them. We expect to resolve these issues and have a Pledge Manager update for you mid-January.
The Pledge Manager will be open for months, so not to worry, you'll have plenty of time to enter your address and adjust your order. And we'll give you lots of notice regarding when it is closing. When the Pledge Manager launches, you'll get an email invitation from Backerkit and we'll announce it in a Kickstarter update.
If you're unfamiliar with Pledge Managers, it's a site where you can enter shipping information, adjust your order, and pay for shipping & applicable taxes (VAT). We'll be using Backerkit for the Pledge Manager and Late Pledges.
Rulebook & TTS Update
Today's massive Tabletop Simulator update includes: rulebook update, cards added to each class, more relics, a new solo relic, "Upgraded card rewards" where the card is instantly upgraded, lots of balance tweaks, and almost all of revealed content added (Act IV Elites, Heart Keys, harder encounters, more rares etc).
